I did a late night hike on Vestmannaeyjar a couple of nights ago - it was a horribly steep climb up (not helped by having just eaten and having drunk a strong beer) but the views (in every direction) were worth the effort!

Always good to get back to the ice - this is a detail from the Svínafellsjökull glacier, which has sadly receded horrendously since I first visited in 2012.

The Glaumbaer farm in Skagafjörður, North Iceland is a large turf house community that consists of 13 buildings and dates back to the settlement of Iceland in 874. People lived in the turf houses until 1947 when the farm was declared a protected site.
