Writing first draft is like tumbling joyously and uncontrollably down a hillside. Second draft is retracing each roll at one tenth speed, correcting the angles of your limbs every time one of them touches the hill while figuring out if there is a better way down.

Got a negative (kindly unpublished) review yesterday, from a respected reader who gave up on my book. Useful. Not just the critique but also the honesty. Fake reviews (easier to give!) are a SLOW ACTING POISON. Never give them! Never want them!
