FIA doctor Professor Sid Watkins - They were very alike in lots of ways, those two: both chargers on the track, but wonderfully gentle human beings. πŸ™

On this day in '81, F1 lost another great ralent.Canada's 1 and only Gilles Villeneuve.A lot of drivers during his era considered him the best. A 3x WDC Lauda once said "I think Gilles was the perfect racing driver..He had the best talent of all of us." R.I.P. πŸ™

8 May 1982: the last flight. The "aviator", as Enzo Ferrari had called the Canadian driver was the hero of my generation. I saw him just once in Turin for the Tour of Italy race where with Rally legend Walter Rohl shared the official Lancia Montecarlo Turbo.

Motor Sport Magazine: With the death of Gilles Villeneuve Grand Prix racing will not be the same. It will still go on and one day another star will appear and shine brightly, but until that day something has gone out of racing that will be hard to replace.DSJ
