In "Bride of " (1935), Jack Pierce co-created the Bride's makeup with input from James Whale, especially regarding the Bride's hair style, based on Nefertiti. Elsa Lanchester's hair was given a Marcel wave over a wire frame to achieve the style

Excellent nonfiction children’s book on by Sheila Keenan. My 5 year old actually listened to me read the first few chapters while organizing his dinosaurs 🦖 (obviously more important work).
