Nerdy fun week in Bergen, Norway learning to use (also break/troubleshoot/fix) the sorter. Handy when your temporary office looks straight across to the flow facility!

X I instruct my flow techs to always look for this phenotype to help find APL. 🚨 Quaruple negative for: CD34/HLA-DR/CD15/CD11b ▶️ Strongly suggests APL. (L shifted grans = 15+, 11b var) Here is a nice example of this in a microgranular variant APL.

Here is an example of why you should NOT use for quantification. The aspirate smears were very hemodilute in this case of B-lymphoblastic the bone marrow is packed with B-ALL while flow shows 0.1% aberrant blasts

Nice example of ”negative” follicular . BCL2/E17 was positive. showed CD10+ monotypic B cells. BCL2/124 negativity can be misleading but the cytologic features and ⬇️ Ki-67 rate are helpful. Reactive germinal centers should show ⬆️ Ki-67.
