Day 77 VP. Sometimes I have days that if I scripted, would look like the plot line of a Turkish soap opera. No idea what combination of factors lead to such a maelstrom of melodrama but crikey it's exhausting...

Day 69 VP. I LOVE HL genetics. Dihybrid crosses?Winning.Test crosses? Yas queen. Gene linkage? Slaying with craft stick modelling. Polygenic inheritance? Get woke about race as a non-scientific concept. Time to teach it effectively? Girl please. This is the IB.

Day 49 VP. Falling into the chromosome/chromatid/homologous pair abyss when teaching meiosis today. So unnecessarily confusing. Luckily role play came to the rescue as always with the more complex biology concepts.

Day 72 VP. One of the (many) perks of my new job is that I finally get to live in a proper house. Our first ever Christmas tree is now officially up. My mood has gone from crazed to content knowing holidays are around the corner.

Day 71 VP. I love when parents and school are in sync. Very positive family meeting today. It was clear to the student that everyone was in the room out of love, kindness and concern. We now have a plan to move forward with complete student buy-in.

Day 70 VP. Todays weather has ranged from pelting rain, big hailstones to vicious winds and finally blazing sunshine. And a gorgeous rainbow. What a wonderful metaphor for teaching secondary students on a Friday only two weeks before holidays begin.

VP Day 51. It's amazing what a week off can do. I feel refreshed and ready to go again although I've already broken my own rule of not staying too late. I have to gain more balance!

Day 50 VP. Autumn half term. I made it. Still vaguely sane. No one has quit and no major complaints. Bring on the holiday! Note to self: never schedule a complicated prac last lesson on a Friday before a holiday

Day 76 VP. All I can think about today is that I forgot to put my mascara on this morning. Everything else has paled into significance. An excellent indication that holidays are required.

Day 73 VP. When did getting food delivered to school become normalised for students ? We have breakfast, break and a good lunch built into our tuition fees and yet students are still ordering food onto campus. Is this acceptable? I don't know but it feels wrong...

Day 75 VP. I love having my G10s last period on a Friday. They are feisty, funny and fabulous with the ability to make the most mundane of tasks great fun. Always a great start to any weekend and a fantastic antidote to a long week.
