How the actual fuck can anyone say someone's mental health is "not a real illness" or "all in their head" when life expectancy of a person with bipolar disorder is 11 - 20 years less than average?

Finally made it to the final episode of and i'm... This show tackled heavy topics with such flair and helped destigmatize talking about mental health. It took such an 'out there' kinda premise and grounded it well by the end. Thank you all for this.

Telling someone with depression to ‘just cheer up’ is like telling someone with an asthma attack to ‘just breathe harder’. If it were a simple case of just cheering up, depression as an illness would not exist.

Ever been told by someone that they “get it”, only to be told how to change it? is, by definition, ‘having knowledge or perception of a situation or fact’. Education is everything - start simple and start early!

Measuring your self worth by the mirror others hold up for you rather than the mirror you hold up for yourself is very dangerous. The need to seek approval is ego destroying and intoxicating. I found it very hard to recover from the need to fit in.

day again! If you happen to have depression or just want to join the stream at 8 PM UK time. Give him a follow meanwhile, also in FB and IG. Mondays can be gloomy but the stream is something that can actually help with it. So it does for me 💗💗💗

Trauma is trauma, and mine is no better or worse than yours. Consider it as catching it early - much like early detection of cancer. Instead, we worry that we aren’t damaged enough. and - .

Fair play for you for being so open and honest. I find it easier to talk/write about my mental health issues on here rather than talk to family and friends. They either get scared or simply avoid the subject altogether.

It bothers me that so much of this article is about how these adults keep their work lives “separate” from their family lives. Not because I think that the adults are wrong for that, but because I think they shouldn’t have to.
