39 years ago, demolition began on the Graystone Ballroom. Long one of 's top venues, especially for black artists like Jackie Wilson. Berry Gordy bought it in '63 but didn't use it much. When Motown left the Motor City for L.A. in 1972, the Graystone was left to rot.

, Livernois Ave, 1980-2019. This shot by noted photographer Tom Hagerty looks north between 7 & 8 Mile. Robin Hood lounge is now Hangovers, while the La Salle building is a furniture shop. A 2019 Livernois Streetscape project will remove the median & widen the sidewalks.
