Been analyzing the 2013 yellow taxi cab data for a recent data challenge, and I must say it's an awesome dataset. Here are the starting positions of the longest trips from January 2013. They're mostly going from FiDi -> UES, UWS, Brooklyn (separate figure).

The only thing that could improve this already perfect presentation of data, is to make the bars 3D. Preferably skewed in a way, that the scale ends on some opposite and not well visible part of the image.
