Parks help build healthy people & communities. Central Park is where North Parkers come together to spend time in nature under the oaks & plane trees. We cannot afford to lose this park for 3-5 year duration of construction — our health depends on it.

Central Park is the heart of our neighbourhood. It offers a safe, positive space for neighbours to relax, connect, and spend time out-of-doors. Thank you Jen for sharing your thoughts on the redevelopment project and the future of Central Park.

That is such sad news. We have a barred owl in Central Park (beside ) — he's known as the 'Bard of North Park' and he's pretty beloved by folks in out neighbourhood. Very sad to read about the loss of the Kings Park owl 🦉

As a North Park resident I'd love to see the new built here in North Park, but I'd also be thrilled to see it built in — another underserved neighbourhood that would benefit immensely from a positive investment in recreation and community space.

There are a lot of emotions surrounding the Pool project. City Staff have prepared a lengthy report of the 6 site options. Based on this data, the way forward should be objectively clear. Spreadsheet: Report:

heres what I found from feasibility study- almost 300k swims per year. So couldnt be 80K unique visitors cause that would be 5 swims per yr and handful of swim club users go 3x/week. Also shows pool wildly underused at 43% interesting.

BREAKING NEWS: City Council has deferred consideration of this matter until new site opportunities are investigated. As this involves potential land acquisitions, the City is not able to provide more information publicly until staff complete their work.

Why place childcare at ? Per BC Min of ChildCare Chen, "The reason we look at public opportunities is we notice that w/ public investment, they provide more stability + accountability + make sure the childcare spaces we are building will remain as a community asset.”

Please protect our park — the folks who live here need it. There are other locations for a pool, but there's no way to avoid harming park users if Central Park is chosen as the site for .
