The Santuário Nacional de Cristo Rei is a symbol of peace to both plea & thank God for the absence of Portugal in World War II. I was indeed moved by looking into the face of & I too, asked God for peace for the world that day.

Walked up the stairs of Cristo Rei. I understand it has an interesting history and background. Built by Indonesia as a gift to the Timorese before they successfully won independence from Indonesia.

The statue of Christ the King of Lubango is a monument designed in the 1950s by the Portuguese engineer of Madeira Island Frazão Sardinha, inspired by similar statues that stand in the cities of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Lisbon (Portugal).
