To be clear - wants to be a success & will play our full part in making it so. It’s not about Boris Johnson or me - it is about tackling the climate crisis. My commitment is that political differences will not stop me and my government working to make it a success

The UK emits 1% of global CO2... BUT The City of London supports, directly or indirectly, a minimum of 15% of global carbon emissions. We may be an island but we have the power to change the game. Maybe our leaders should read up.

Extraordinary letter from Claire O’Neill. Politics aside, it’s required reading for anyone remotely interested in the process

I’m determined that political differences will not impact on . I’ve therefore written to PM today making clear commitment to working well with the UK government and suggesting a sense of shared responsibility for its success. Let’s move forward in the right spirit.

Today’s shenanigans are deeply depressing: UK Gov has presidency of an institution it doesn’t understand, with a PM who doesn’t ‘get’ the most important issue facing humanity and can’t answer questions. This is amateur hour. Appoint someone as COP President and get a grip

By any standards this morning’s climate event was rather strange. No questions, no answers on key points, no mention publicly of the sacking of Claire O’Neill. Many experts here left bemused and not a little worried about

Dominic Raab says I will be meeting with ‘Richard’ Attenborough today. I only wish this were true, as I’d like to ask him whether the technology from Jurassic Park could be used to create a theme park full of Margaret Thatchers.

At this morning’s official launch, Boris Johnson unequivocally confirms the event will be in Glasgow. And much more importantly, Sir David Attenborough said it too! Twice! Time now to make sure delivers the outcomes the planet needs. Glasgow is ready.

This isn't going to end well for : playing political games with the environment, Scotland & Glasgow. And Glasgow has been a Tory free zone at Westminster since 1982.

I think I speak for most friendly independent climate advisory bodies when I say I’d like to see this business sorted out sharpish. It’s very important that the UK is brilliant in the presidency and that Scotland is brilliant as the host for this summit.

In future I will not be attending any events unless they follow the No 10 protocol of locking out ‘unfriendly’ journalists, particularly . And just for the record, I sacked Claire O’Neill because the silly fool actually believes climate change is real.

"2050 is just too late... It would cause massive devastation to ecosystems" are here outside the COP26 launch event to say is set up to fail. The clue is in the name, 26 years of failure to act. 2020 has to be the year we change. 📸 William Watson
