my parents, ever the $ savers, learned I could accelerate through HS-earning my diploma in 3 yrs-AND that I could early enroll at the local my senior/3rd year. I joke they wanted to cut costs & let the county pay, but really they knew I needed a challenge. 2/n

Last thing: u don't need to have moved on & finished a 4-yr degree to be a success imho. If u came and discovered James Baldwin, if u studied intl business, if u learned how to build a website... if u left w/o a degree but w/ a bigger worldview, THIS IS SUCCESS.

I was a college dropout, then started at a comm college on financial aid while working two jobs. I earned my AA, finished my BA at an adult learners program at a 4 year school. This fall I’ll be starting my PhD at Harvard. makes dreams reality.

Many thanks to Rachel Lord for giving me a tour of Pima Community College's food pantry at the West campus. Staffed by volunteer Social Work students, the pantry provides free non-perishable food and hygiene products to any Pima Community College student.

I went to a as it 1)had more opitions to work around my job schedule, 2)was more affordable, and 3)allowed me to explore what I wanted in life. "It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."

🙌 Fantastic thread. I’ll add my experience, starting with the recognition that I wouldn’t have any of my professional experiences without my education. I wouldn’t have had access to higher ed, either. I’ve worked in cc for 20+ years to help others on the path.
