The rain has stopped. Great views from Errislannan monument overlooking the bog that transatlantic flyers Alcock and Browne landed in 100 years ago this month. If only the sun came out.

Another good , hot on the trail for a good story, the fact journalist Tom Kenny was first to find the plane & is a story in itself ,I can just imagine him leaving his home and racing to where the aviation heroes landed.

1919 John Alcock & Arthur Whitten Brown flew this Vickers Vimy bomber from St Johns to , in the first non-stop flight. John was born at Basford House Cottage, Seymour Grove in 1892. He is buried in Southern Cemetery
