Lots of woody detail here on the Novak marker. Discovered Frank Novak was convicted of murder in 1897 but had his life sentence commuted in 1911. He died in 1930 in Chicago and was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he was born.

Allegheny , Lawrenceville Birch trees are renowned for being able to avert the "evil eye". The bark doesn't rot & was often used to make cradles. They make for an excellent maypole, & Siberian people venerated the birch as their version of the World Tree

That was a lot of fun...I dug out my old Minolta X-370 (my 1st SLR camera bought new ~1985) & put a roll of Ilford HP5 film through it yesterday. It still works like the last time I used it, around 15+ years ago.
