Mum’s move to a new has been more traumatic than I imagined. It felt at times that all the months of preparation, shortlisting, interviews & visits were a complete waste of time. But there are some positive signs & I am ever hopeful.

Great to visit a yesterday that felt like a caring home. The staff ( homemakers) didn’t wear uniforms, listened & responded w compassion in the moment & were involved in all aspects of . Removing a sense of hierarchy frm a team means residents wellbeing comes first

Last day at a taking part in ethnographic . Sad to be leaving. If you want to get chatting to residents then my advice is to have unusual hair. In the past 48hrs I’ve been told it makes me look like a ‘pretty mermaid’ and it’s too long. Can’t please everyone!

A resident with dementia and poor vision collected a napkin, cutlery, set the table for me and asked me to join her for lunch. Her memory means she can't remember me or what I do, but she is so full of love and kindness. Starting to feel accepted in this new role 🌟

Residents from our care homes had a BBQ and entertainment at Beechenhurst Lodge in the Forest. Such a jolly time with some great sing-a-longs together thanks to Andy Yape. The video says it all - more with photos this week. 🎶🕺

An idea suggested by one of our care team.. meal & drink vouchers for those that like to pay for their meals.. we have in the past tried using monopoly style money, giving a 'bill' after meals, but the vouchers are proving successful for those that use them..
