We always read The Outsiders to start the 8th grade year. It really is a great book. It’s even cooler when you consider the S.E. Hinton was a teenager when she wrote it. Highly recommend! 2/21

Nancy Yi Fan was still a teenager when she wrote this! She did a great job immersing readers into a world of birds and a conflict over power. 10/21

“War Story is an excellent memoir about the lasting challenges many veterans face. I enjoy reading memoir, and this one is exceptional. It has been on my mind for several days and is shaping my prayer life.”

This book frustrated me the entire time. I wanted to yell and the female lead, but I needed to keep reading to see what she did. I loved the problem in this book (and seeing it depicted) and how the author tried to capture teenage love in a strict society. 16/21
