Ody ends up in the Phaeacians and Athena interferes to make the people help Ody on his journey home. She does so through Nausicaa who then gives Ody instructions to speak to her mother.

In book six we learn that Nausicaa is intelligent and not timid. The texts states, β€œIn her candid way, Nausicaa sized him up and saw he meant no harm.” Even though her maids had fled Nausicaa stood her ground and immediately saw that Ody had good intentions.
