Small litter. Cigarette butts, which contain plastic are the most common form of littering. Chewing gum is made from synthetic rubber, aka plastic -look for plastic-free alternatives eg Chewsy, Peppersmith or Simply Gum.

Cigarette butts can be camouflaged by autumn leaf fall but remember they can be a fire hazard if not put out properly. Not to mention, the chemicals they contain can be incredibly harmful to nature. Keep your butt until you can find a bin to put it in!

...cigarette butts are the most common form of litter on the streets? 🤔 They can take up to 14ys to decompose, contain 100s of chemicals which can be leached into the environment and they may be ingested by animals which can lead to death. So please 🗑️

Here are the three survey summaries from the beach cleans I did with the awesome in South Queensferry! Quite a big difference here as cigarette butts took over! Nearly 80 found despite a very high tide having just been and gone!

Speaking on about the toxicity of fag butts and the campaign - PAVEMENTS AND DRAINS ARE NOT BINS!!! Butts are made of plastic and poisonous chemicals and must always be disposed of responsibly - in a bin!
