A lovely thread on having a good Xmas (or birthday). I’ve already given this Xmas present to myself, from myself...

Friends, i wanna share some things I’m doing this Xmas to help with my autism and my kids autism. 1. Making sure we have a basic simple plan but not putting pressure on keeping to a strict time/ list. 2. Having down time to recharge and featuring it in the plan.

3. Keeping the entertainment calm and with plenty of breaks- a movie that is chilled and music that isn’t too high tempo. 4. Advising visitors about our needs even encouraging others to visit on different days. Face timing on the day or calling.

5. Damn the man, wear what the hell we want! We’re keeping it casual. 6. Were not over indulging on sugar just coz it’s Xmas- yeah, we’re gonna have treats but too much sugar isn’t my kids friend or mine. 7. Breaks in unwrapping gifts and taking our time.

Phew what a couple of days, only one major Sam meltdown, today more chilled in his little dark den. Merry Christmas!

Xmas day itself will be hard as I have to pretend to be happy when I feel sad and lonely.
