So coming off Venlafaxine (Effexor) is frikkin AWFUL. I opted to try an alternate day taper (full dose one day/half dose the next) and I am a wreck. Jumpy, anxiety filled, irritable & disassociating. MARVELLOUS.

Going off can certainly be a lot of trouble, as can the alternative. Taking any drug chronically for decades is wearing on the body, as you get older, metabolization weakens, plus there can be drug-drug interactions with drugs you ACTUALLY NEED for medical care.

This Vasco Barreto person is just someone convinced he needs he needs a drug. "Barreto describes his own history of depression, which returned on stopping ...." Dr. Double, this is a classic description of someone mistaking withdrawal symptoms for "depression"!!!
