I made so many bloody redlines on my 2 chapters this morning that I had to go back and give myself some smiley faces too so I won't feel so bad when I incorporate the changes later.

MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION, ASPIRING WRITERS! Ahem. Agents prefer that we have a decent size social media following. We should all be FOLLOWING each other to SUPPORT each other. Let's get each other's numbers UP! Thank you. 🤗🎉🎊🎉🎊

Sometimes I forget how much I love editing. All I ever hear about is how hard it is or how much people hate it, but for me it’s the fun part! I like coming back to the beginning with a true understanding of my characters and where they’re going so I can fix it all up.

Tommy raised his middle finger at Father Bickle, then slapped the rosary out of his hand. "I'm not possessed by a demon asshole. I just don't like you. Get out! Take all your weird sh*t with you!" The priest looked at Mrs. Stone. "That's the demon talking."

I've been spending some time on Facebook, answering questions from authors and other editors. I decided to open a forum here. What questions do you have for an editor regarding your manuscript? Aaaaand... go!

In the strange position of having delivered a manuscript with no planned book ready to start. Instead I've planned a week off. It begins with a coffee in my garden and I'm already wondering how I'm supposed to manage a whole week of this.

In life, lots of extra things happen, things that aren’t relevant to the plot. But books aren't like that. In books, YOU LEAVE THOSE OUT! Need to remember this. It would make editing so much easier.

Author friends—do you ever FINISH writing a book? Every edit makes it better, but is there an edit that ever makes it done? I feel like all I can do is make it as good as I can, and at some point, that has to be enough.

Hey ! When writing a novel in the real world, do you prefer to use real cities and locations, fictional settings or a mix of both?
