My favorite old lady hobby is cross stitch and I figured it was about time I made a mosquito. This is my current project. Anyone else use their study organism as a muse?

Spent some time today building sets of good dissecting needles using wooden sticks and insect pins. Quite enjoyable actually. Now I am ready for the dissection marathon of Ae. salivary glands Monday and Wednesday.

The only one that DIDN'T get away? The Asian tiger , , is now a regular inhabitant of my area. The presence of these stealthy, day-biting, exsanguinists means that even a sunny afternoon is part of prime. One thoracic white stripe ID's it.
