Willow Ptarmigan: There is fresh snow in the alpine of Chugach State Park . All the easier for tracking ptarmigan, unless the wily birds take to the willows to forage. Females are starting to molt now too but well behind the males.

This image was shot fairly early in the morning as the moon rose over the Chugach Mountains. This was shot from the roadway. As I saw this, I could not get out of the truck quick enough because it just looked so cool and I did not want that fog/cloud layer to disappear.

We're having one of our hurricane force gales tonight. My floathouse is jerking so hard against its mooring lines in the storm surge that it shudders. The wind has that high pitched scream. No fun. Below, the sheered off trees silently testify to past storms.

The most serious threat facing is crime. Crime rates have risen steadily with SB91 & my legislation, SB 32 will repeal large portions of SB91. Tonight is taking public testimony at 6pm, please call in tell them how the increase in crime has affected you.
