My grandpa was doing his usual walk around the park and 3 guys pulled up on him with a gun. He didn’t know any English then but simply pointed up to the sky with 1 finger, implying that there’s just one God and he sees all.

My mom stopped wearing her hijab because she was called a “sand n*****” and spit on. My dad was kept overnight by the police with NO way to contact us & asked if he had connections to terrorists over a unpaid speeding ticket.

Islam was falsely labeled as a hateful religion and stereotypes began to be developed against anyone who was Muslim. Muslims were and still are called terrorists in the media over one incident that had nothing to do with the religion.

I got bullied throughout 6th grade . My classmates called me a terrorist & told me that I was a part of the attacks. I was suspended for talking back. I remember the school principal said to me that I should take off my turban for my safety. I never wore it again
