People can’t always spot . The ‘rowdy boy’ stereotype makes it difficult for some people (ex: ‘gifted’ introverted girls) to get diagnosed and treated early. 👏🏼 ANYONE 👏🏼 CAN 👏🏼 HAVE 👏🏼ADHD 👏🏼

Okay so my son is having a nap so now I want to talk about what it’s like to have . ADHD is often thought of as a condition that makes school kids (usually boys) misbehave and that people medicate their children to subdue them and force them to conform.

A year ago today I said goodbye to my dog who’d been with me my entire adult life. Feeling sad, but at least I got to feed her cheeseburgers first. Having a dog for emotional support has been one of my most important strategies.

: Adults remain the largest undiagnosed group, especially adult women. ADHD is not as common in females as in males (3:1) & tends to look a bit different in girls and women, which often makes it tougher to spot and treat.

Applying for jobs is hell. It involves: a) Engaging with a system of rules I find stupid, arbitrary and almost impossible to focus on b) crippling fear of judgement and rejection I feel like this must be a common experience. ?

Does anyone else’s home screen look familiar? In particular unanswered messages and emails! Is there any going back from this? 14,000 emails to read, digest or delete is Impossible but annoys the hell out of me.

feels like having a brain that avoids driving at all costs. i try to trick it. i bargain. i coerce. i FINALLY get it behind the wheel with its seat belt on, and everything is ready to go. then i turn the key... and the car just won’t start.

To Do Today: 1. Feel all the Feels. 2. Notice the time it takes. 3. Play computer games because feeling feels AND feeling guilty for wasting time = avoidance. 4. Panic because I haven‘t done ANYTHING! 5. Get insufficient sleep. 6. Repeat as needed.
