made landfall as a Cat4 hurricane on Cozumel and Cancun in northeast Yucatan on Oct 21st, then again as Cat3 hurricane in southwest Florida on Oct 24th. This surface wind swath shows its track, intensity fluctuations, inner core expansions & contractions, and landfalls.

With 185 mph afternoon sustained max winds... has become tied for the second strongest hurricane in Atlantic basin history in reference to winds. Allen in 1980 had 190 mph winds. Dorian now ties (2005)... Gilbert (1988) and Labor Day Hurricane of 1935 at 185 mph.
