Final Thoughts: Tropes are a necessary evil in writing. The key is to not rely on them too heavily and use them to add the familiar while telling your own story. Take care everyone

After nearly a century of superhero comics I don't think you can make one these days that isn't full of clichés lolz. The best you can do is make it contemporary and add your own twists

Currently on hiatus, but I do one page a week. First Sundays, then Tuesdays. May change it to Mon or Wed when I start up again.

It's going to happen eventually, so just sprinkle your own magic on them

Any cliché that's a shallow stereotype about a group of people. Even if they're background characters, so they're not going to have deep or well-developed personalities no matter what...mix it up a bit! It'll be more interesting/memorable/funny that way anyhow.

Tropes are kind of unavoidable. The secret is to keep them at bay as best as you can or use them as inspiration for character traits and worldbuilding. Avoiding cliches is a bit easier and something to keep in mind

Related: don't introduce a woman just to kill her, don't have the black guy die first, and for heaven's sake, don't pull "the same-sex couple finally gets together and/or has sex for the first time, then surprise! one of them dies immediately after."

Actually a cliché I really hated using myself was the 'character waking up with memory loss' thing but man it was really easy to write for lolz

I discovered way too late it's difficult for me to find an ending to these long storylines I do. Doesn't stop me from doing them, though.
