This has been in my drafts all day so it's deep breath time... today is & it's also exactly seven years since I tried to end it. It's a story far too big & surreal for tweeting, although I don't mind telling it, but what matters most is the happy ending. I'm still here.

My last suicide attempt was 2 and a half months ago. I won’t pretend I woke up and everything was rainbows and smiles because it wasn’t. But I will continue to be a work in progress because there has to be a reason why my 7 attempts have not worked. There has to be more.

Last year the Lothians lost almost 100 persons to suicide. We need to work together to prevent suicide. Men are over 3 times more likely to complete suicide compared to women. Look out for, and talk to, your colleagues, friends, family members. You are not alone.

In Scotland 3 in 4 suicides are male. We need to break the stigma and make sure men of any age know that's okay not to feel okay and that you can ask for help. 📞Samaritans - 116 123
