Dear Americans, Annual reminder: Monday is - it is a day to remember those in the armed forces who have *died* in service to our nation. Please do NOT thank a living veteran on Memorial Day, it makes most uncomfortable. Thank them on . Thank you.

just a friendly reminder: is to honor those who have sacrificed & given their lives to their country is to honor those who served that are still living Both equally important, both worthy of observance...but a distinction nonetheless 🇺🇸♥️

How many retweets for Petrus de Kock? As a soldier of the Dutch Indies Army he fought a guerrilla war against the Japanese on New Guinea (1942-1944). He was awarded the Bronze Cross and the Resistance Memorial Cross.

I'm not going to tell you how to live your life, but it would be cool if, on and , you listened to troops, vets, and surviving family members who are outside of the dominant, flag-waving discourse about "service" and "sacrifice."

Today is for those who have fallen defending our country and our freedom. November 11 is for honoring those who currently serve and are retired but living. This has been a PSA. PLEASE REMEMBER THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN and — THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE!!
