The HWRF model forecasts strong upwelling to take place during ´s passage near the coast of Gujarat. While the storm tries to restrengthen at the moment, this as well as dry air and shear will be the cause for its eventual demise. My current estimate: 95kts/953mb

After it's impressive blast of convection and intensification, it seems that the show is coming to an end. Microwave imagery reveals a collapsed eyewall. On to the next storm! which looks like it may be in the WPAC. My thoughts on that later.

Latest forecasts have Tropical Cyclone skirting the coast of Gujarat. Even if the center of the storm does not make "landfall," much of the coastline will bear the brunt of Vayu's wind, rain, and surge.

Ladies and Gentlemen, . The eye is emerging at last. The potential for a second round of Rapid Intensification is incresing, and some models indicate it reaching Category 3 or higher. Good news is that it will stay offshore.

is likely to recurve on 16 June and hit Kutch between 17-18 June. The intensity of the cyclone is likely to get reduced, it may hit the coast as a cyclonic storm or a deep depression.
