‘Urf’ in Urdu means ‘also known as’ or ‘better known as’, similar in usage to English ‘alias’. Example: Sameer urf Raju Urf comes from Arabic root ‘ain-ra-fa’ which means ‘know’. From this root are derived ‘Arif’(one who knows) & ‘Maroof’(that which is known)

In , do-chashmi-hay ھ is attached to other letters for aspiration (bh,ph,kh..) If found in any Urdu word, you can be sure the word doesn’t come from Persian/Arabic, which don’t have these strong aspirated sounds. These sounds are typically Indo-Aryan (spoken in SouthAsia).

Intriguing to see this sign at IGI airport with written on it. Haven't come across such linguistic markers anywhere else at the places that I have seen within the premises of this (mammoth) airport. Have you spotted one? kudos to you. ♥️
