Every decent person should applaud the proposals set out by and this afternoon. The dreadful and growing inequality in this country cannot start to be addressed until we have strong unions and bargaining rights and make work pay again

Five years ago I told the CEO of Wonga I wanted credit unions to compete him out of business. Today at the TUC conference I said let’s put church-run food banks and night-shelters out of business.

Brilliant speech from yesterday. Just as our faith prompts us to provide practical support for the vulnerable, so too it prompts us to call out injustice. We need a country where night shelters aren't necessary. "Let justice rain down like waters" Amen.
