Dear friends: Please pray for the Synod of Bishops on Youth, which has just begun. Pray that all the participants--clergy, lay and religious; men and women; young and old; from around the world; will be guided by the Holy Spirit.

Lots of thoughts on what I’ve seen so far of the Instrumentum Laboris for , but one quick take: The fact that Cardinal Baldisseri specifically said his office paid attention to what young people wrote in March is significant. The Church IS listening to young people.

sources: “Synodality” as a new model of the Church (i.e. permanent revolution) is now being imposed on the assembly, despite it not figuring highly in working document nor synod discussions. It dominates 3rd part of final doc. draft, has no connection with synod theme

Can you imagine if we lived this? “It is not Christian to expect that our brothers and sisters who are seekers should have to knock on our doors; we ought to go out to them, bringing not ourselves but Jesus.”

Some questions for the Bishops at the ...when was the last time you: -personally led a young adult to a conversion? -personally accompanied a young adult into spiritual, moral, & missionary maturity? If the answer is "never"/"a long time ago", then I wouldn't talk much.

I’ve been reading summaries of English-language discussions of working groups. Aargh!!! Platitudes, virtue-signalling, stating the bleeding obvious. Just like Anglican working groups. Some of these bishops come across as seriously dim.

As comes to an end, I fear that many Catholic media outlets will spend the coming months publishing a parade of pieces alleging conspiracies, criticizing phrasing, and suggesting that we need not listen to its advice regarding ministry to young people. I hope I'm wrong.

Reflections on two LGBT questions at the synod, mainly on nomenclature: Can the Synod use the term "LGBT"? And can the Synod refer to gay couples (and their children) as "families"?
