PSA: Reusable silicon straws (and any other alternates) aren’t the hidden secret able-bodied people think they are. Stop telling us to use them. We know they exist. They don’t work for us.

I love when the Straw Ban Activists (tm) come for me with "ban all single-use plastics, nobody needs them," I respond with receipts and ... they block me. I see your environmentalism is threatened by the existence and needs of disabled people, there, skip.

Faking a disability to avoid a conversation is weird flex but ok.

Huh... who could have predicted that eliminating plastic straws would make things worse?

People told us not to worry abt the straw thing. That restaurants were required by law to have them on hand so disabled ppl could request them. I have literally been to over 20 restaurants in DC and found none had them for disabled ppl.

It's funny how so many of the people who advocated for banning plastic straws in favor of paper straws are now finding out how terrible paper straws are as straws.

Yesterday I wore my shirt that says “everything hurts and I’m dying” and this lady in the shop said “you should wear a more cheerful shirt.” I told her my pain mgmt doctor laughed out loud when he saw it, then her colleague said “Jesus! Let her live her life!”

WE TOLD Y’ALL. Will you listen to a newspaper article if you’re not willing to listen to the disability community? 🧐

"But I have disabled people in my family and we've adapted to this and that soooo easily, like it was so easy I don't understand why it isn't that easy for anyone else. Just try it's so easy. Because I'm saying it is for me." NO.

Rest in Power: Carrie Ann Lucas, Bill Peace, and Ing Wong-Ward One way to remember all the disabled people we love is to continue telling their stories and keep fighting against ableism like hell.

I already KNOW that no one will apologise to disabled folks when these fucking are eventually called off. I know no one will care that we had to spend years yelling about it, that people injured themselves, that people are now fucking dying.

2019 has been a rough year with the recent deaths of three amazing disabled people: Carrie Ann Lucas, Bill Peace, and Ing Wong-Ward. All 3 were badass activists, generous, kind, and loving. I was lucky to know all 3 of them

In today's episode of 'people forgetting millenials are all well into adulthood now', someone tried to convince me that bendable plastic straws weren't used twenty years ago.

One of my biggest peeves are people walking around like they have it allllll figured out for everyone because something is trendy or there's a new mob mentality on the streets. Not everything works out the same for every individual. Be. Fucking. Mindful.
