(1/6) early “First and Finest”. This is a scratch-build I did in the mid 1980’s for my father a mechanical engineer with Westinghouse from 1965-1979 working in the Refueling Group on nuclear subs. The model is in her 1970s Scheme

that subs are referred to as "boats" because they were known as "submarine torpedo boats" prior to WWI. All variations of torpedo boats posed such a threat to capital ships that navies developed fast "torpedo boat destroyers" which are now simply "destroyers".
