Small Pox Evolved from a Mild, but Widespread Zoonotic disease (from rodents) that gradually lost Immune Evasion Genes & Became more virulent leading to epidemics. Multiple Immune evasion & Host range genes were lost 1/2

This is a really good read! It’s Dr. Bill Foege’s account of some key lessons on the eradication of and how those lessons can be useful to combat this current . I guess some things can’t be taught from textbooks except through experience

I suspect principles of vaccines/inoculation CAN in theory protect individuals from infection. Cowpox actually protected against . Unfortunately there’s so much economic pressure w/, trusting claimed safety/efficacy w/short testing..no😐
