Thank God for ! She looked like Magnus Pyke in a wimple, lived in a derelict caravan, and could charm the birds from the trees; but I remember best her lucidity talking about religious art, and the joy with which she lived her vocation. RIP.

Like so many others, I adored . Faithful, funny and wise, she revealed for millions the beautiful vocation of the contemplative life and of the Catholic sister. May she rest in peace with the God of beauty, whom she served so well.

made her first film, for Granada TV, in 1989. I invited her to talk about the centenary exhibition at Whitworth Art Gallery. No script, no rehearsals, no second takes. Sheโ€™d only seen TV twice in her life before. Loved her God, great art & a good dinner. RIP

โ€œI donโ€™t think anyone can feel God. Those who believe in him most are most aware of his non-feelability, as it were. God is such a total mystery. My heart sinks when the word God is bandied around glibly.โ€ Yes! RIP.
