The idea of shifting metro3 carshed to the said site at Royal palms is a disaster as it's wildlife corridor sees frequent leopard &other wildlife movement & it's bordering Sanjay Gandhi park. the demand is to spare the whole Aarey & persue alternative sites

Mumbai walo! Agar ye sach hai, toh aap chronology samajhiye. Pehle metro aaegi, fir MHADA, Fir Zoo, fir nayi Film City. and all people I know in the fight have always opposed all of the above projects. Let's not miss the woods for trees. :)

As they say trade offs needed to upgrade . Comm expl of 25acre plot which has phenomenal green cover. But more new high-rises at cost of green&open spaces like Aarey & the same excuse Mumbai will be confined into concrete enclosures.

In practise, habitat after habitat are under attack putting biodiversity & ecosystems under great threat of extinction. Hoping against hope that things will change on the ground.

Replying to @SudhaRamenIFS
How will the species be protected if their habitats are being destroyed by politicians and vested interests?? While we are celebrating small successes it is really shocking how much is being destroyed everyday before our eyes.

Focus on habitat protection rather than species. Without habitat there is no species. Soon there will be many species on the doorstep of extinction in India.

Time again again we have reminded and put forth that whatever it is more than meets the eye in terms of land required. It is just a start to a brutal commercial exploitation.
