SPS Traffic Unit Sep 3
Last night’s crew spoke to over 500 drivers. Most were happy Riders fans returning from the game. 1 driver was taken off the road for driving while under the influence of cannabis following a Standardized Field Sobriety Test. His car was also impounded.

So many designated drivers coming through locations overnight! Great job YXE! Our hearts were also warmed (literally) by motorists who used the TimCards we gave them to buy us coffee and came back to deliver it!

Of over 300 drivers screened last night at our , we administered 6 roadside breath tests. 1 driver suspended/impounded for 3-days and another refused to provide a breath sample... he’s in jail now. We’ll be out here all weekend, stay safe.

So who says an can only happen on weekends? On Thursday night our traffic and CTSS members checked about 300 cars downtown. 3 drivers were suspended for exceeding .04 and had their cars impounded. Remember the rule: it’s never ok to drive impaired.

Officers at Saturday night’s were kept busy. One driver tried to evade the checkpoint and ended up charged with impaired driving. 3 drivers suspended at roadside, one for driving while high. Also multiple warrants executed and a breach of conditions charge laid.

At last night’s , 5 drivers were suspended/cars impounded, 2 were new drivers and 1 was for being high. 2 charges for having liquor in veh and 1 for possession of drugs. Thanks to CTSS for pitching in. We will be out again tonight ☘️.

One impaired driver charged at last night’s . Another suspended/impounded for 3 days. The afternoon crew worked a southbound checkstop near Chamberland. No impaired charges but several tickets for liquor in the vehicle AND the Riders won!

Our traffic crew was out last night on 22nd Street for the first of 2 weekend projects. One driver was suspended for 72hrs and had his vehicle impounded. A distracted driving charge was also laid. See you tonight, YXE!

Our Saturday night crew was set up in Central Division and screened 375 cars. 12 roadside breath tests done but no impaired drivers. 3 traffic tix, 1 iquor offence, 2 warrants executed and 1 drug charge. More checks to come!

A driver approaching our Saturday , made a U-turn when he saw our sign. Officers caught up to him 3 blocks away. He’s charged with failing to stop for police, impaired driving, exceed .08, and had multiple warrants.
