As per a handful of different sources the and defenseman Eric Karlsson are making progress towards a long term deal that would keep Karlsson in San Jose for the next 8 years. Being told the deal would be worth just north of $12 million per season.

I just don’t understand how some Sharks fans are down on re-signing Erik Karlsson. Yes, what is likely being offered is a lot, but he is one of the few players in the league that warrants that type of contract. There is no better way to improve the team for the future.
