I was REALLY REALLY looking forward to not being patronised with “well you are only an .......” next year Then someone mentions “When you are an ...” 🙄 Give me strength. RQT? 😑 What’s with the labels? I’m just a . So patronising

Really successful positive behaviour management is more about how we think and act towards our students as adults than it is to do with any application of rules or procedures in the classrooms we teach in.

Coming to the end of the year now. Do you guys have any advice of things you wish you'd done/are really glad you did at the end of the school year? Particularly with regards to preparing for RQT year but any advice welcome!

In the next few weeks PGCE students will be finishing their courses. I'd like to know whether students and teacher feel as though they were prepared. Post your thoughts below. I'd love to hear how you feel/felt.

The reality is that poor student behaviour in the classroom is driven by many things. Overwhelmingly though, it is not because students want to annoy you as the teacher. Knowing this removes a lot of stress when teaching “tougher”groups.

The biggest impacts, by far, in my own classroom management came when I - 1. Stopped feeling personally threatened by every poor behaviour occurring in my classroom 2. When I started to smile more at students (a lot more)

The end of the school year is very important for behaviour management. It is right now that we reflect on what we didn’t get quite right this year, and work out how, and what changes we need to make to our practise, to get it right next.
