I agree with your premise, but as a student in a BPR, misconceptions like this damage our profession. The role of PR is to manage relations, openly, transparently, and truthfully to reach a mutually beneficial understanding. Not Barr's bastardization of it.

Some in don't trust for a number of reasons. However unlike other aspects of the market mix PR has the strongest code of ethics. PR shouldn't be questioned about ethics it should be emulated!
