During my shift yesterday, amongst attending several calls, I fixed someone’s bike. They came over to say hello and were struggling as their seat fell off and together we fixed it. I got a handshake and a smile. These little interactions are priceless to me.

Five minutes after speaking to about how data shows on-duty to be at an all time low, a SAPS officer calls me to tell me I'm wrong, that police are MOST likely to be killed on duty. This is part of the problem. Emotion trumps evidence.
