It’s always fun finding new ways to incorporate natural frames into the skyline, and this is one that I’ve stood by a thousand times but never captured until recently. Being able to see the colorful sunrise through the branches was the icing on the cake.

This scene from a foggy morning in a few weeks back was pretty much already devoid of color, so I made it a full black and white except for the bridge. I just love the reflections of the city on days like this, when the rivers turn into mirrors.

For some reason, this view almost doesn’t look like to me. Maybe it’s how the sunrise dwarfs the city, or just how dynamic the light is across the scene, but it reminds me more of a video game. Either way, mornings like this make it so much fun to be a photographer

A great photo from Nov 23, 1918, of Pop Warner's beating the undefeated (and unscored upon) coached by John 32-0 at 's Forbes Field. This loss put a stop to Georgia Tech’s 33-game no-loss streak under John Heisman.

The three roofs of the Ft. Pitt Tunnel all offer unique yet beautiful views of . This is another view from the lower roof, this time on the right side of the tunnel, showcasing the bridge leading into downtown and offering a great angle of the skyline.

There may not be a composition in that I enjoy capturing more than the full moon behind the spires of PPG Place. I’ve shared a view of the moon directly above the building before, but I really like this one as well. Adds a little bit of mystery to the scene.

Nothing like starting a morning down at the Point, with reflecting in the fountain basin. Even though I have a 12mm lens, it wasn’t enough to capture this incredible sunrise, so I went with an eight image pano instead. The reflections were absolutely perfect.

Even on cloudless mornings, beautiful views in can be found. A tiny sun flare peeks out behind Guyasuta at the Point of View statue on Mt. Washington, the pinpoint rays of light creating the perfect accent to a summer morning.
