I see a lot of posts about how doing a PhD inevitably results in mood disorders, depression, needing counselling, etc. Is there ANYONE out there who completed a doctorate with mental health (relatively) intact? Or is that a pipe dream?

Today I successfully defended my dissertation. I am now Dr Sanchez. So happy for this journey. Thankful to my PI, and to so many friends that helped along the way.

Academia is definitely not for me! I regret that I decided to stay at the academy. Stress is killing me! I wanted to be in academia because I have a free spirit. The stressful atmosphere is not visible from outside! πŸ™„πŸ₯Ί

Some grad students feel out of place because they feel older than everyone, some because they feel younger than everyone. I guess always finds a way.
