I think meteors are extra cool up close and real time. Perseid leaving a persistent trail from Aug 13th.

Between clouds, smoke & memories of epic meteor showers past, sounds like this year's Perseids were a disappointment for many. Grateful for clear skies up here, because I was loving it. Composite image with 101 Perseids and 22 sporadics from 2 nights ago.

Perseid meteors and the Pine Gulch fire... 15 images around midnight, stacked and rotated to the shower radiant. The flaming front produced an incredible red glow on the clouds above. Taken from Colorado National Monument. 4x6 crop.

Have you spotted any Perseids!? The meteor shower peaks tonight. For best viewing look to the east northeast around 11PM before the bright half Moon rises. Low clouds are rolling in but you may get lucky on the North Shore!

I really like this photo I got while photographing the last night. Technically it's not great, lots of lens flare from the moon. But the meteor on the left is sharp and I love how the Pleiades were rising alongside the moon.

was awesome north of Flagstaff last night! 138 Perseids counted by eye from 12-5AM. 6D Mark II was running my main composition. Out of 3700+ exposures from 11PM-5AM, 170+ frames picked up meteors including a few bright fireballs. This was one of them.
