My vote goes to (Martinique), which produced a devastating in 1902. The images of St. Pierre laid waste by pyroclastic surges are still haunting today. Post-eruption, the 'Needle of Pelee' lava spine grew in the crater. (Photos: Lacroix and Heilprin)

The old volcano observatory must be one of the most distinctive in the world. The observatory was founded by Alfred Lacroix in 1902 during the 1st historic eruption; the building, reminiscent of the Art Deco style, dates from 1935 and is a historic monument.

Zooming and cropping in on that freighter (far left) at off Island, it must be at least 5 miles off shore based on the Lake Erie shipping lanes. Absolutely love this , the stock 16-50mm lens just works well in so many situations.
