Anyone else eat a ripe pear like it's a time trial? I wolf them down, firstly to stop the juice going everywhere and eliminating the need to shower after I've finished, but secondly because I don't want to dwell on the pear. Why?

Next up: the cake. If I have a few ripe , sometimes that is all the excuse I need to make this, an old family recipe I adjusted to include the upside-down pear element. The cake is a very moist buttery Swedish , quite easy to make.
