A1 Dubai was the most difficult place to connect with especially on my first trip. I wrote about my first impressions -

A2 Madrid was a let down for us on first visit. And then a diverted flighted forced a return...and we loved it. We then took Tom earlier this year and loved it even more

A2 Went back to Miami because I had no choice as I was taking a cruise. I just used it to spoil myself instead of sight seeing and I did have a nice second visit

A4 I'll definitely listen to everyone in this community & other like minded travellers. Sometimes work takes me back to places, sometimes a cheap deal. Actually, in my early 20s I had kind of written off my home region a bit. I thought it didn't have much going on...

Some fantastic cities and regions as long as you stay away from the British enclaves, and even then you don't have to go too far to find something spectcular

A5 Research can make a difference. In the case with NYC, I stayed in a seedy neighborhood on the first visit, trying to save a buck. I slept with the lights on because I was worried I was going to wake up to a rat looking at me. I still have to see a rat in NYC.

I'm not quite around. Meanwhile, here's a picture of January. Of. Not from. I've no idea. It's kinda odd.

A6 I know people who have written off Rome, New York City, Caribbean islands, Hong Kong and Singapore. Some of those are my favourite places but I understand it can be preference. I don't mind hustle and bustle. I can cope with smaller rooms. Not everyone is the same

A6 Sometimes I need to think about whether it was me or the place. So I'd ask other people what did you not like? What happened while you were there? Where did you stay? Each place is not for everyone so I wouldn't push but just ask if they give it a 2nd chance

A6- Get off of the beaten path and away from the touristy stuff before you write a place off
